Dear Colleague, The 59th World Newspaper Congress, 13th World Editors Forum and Info Services Expo will be held in Moscow, Russia, from 4 to 7 June 2006. Please enter the dates in your diary and accept our personal invitations to attend. As Presidents of the World Association of Newspapers and the World Editors Forum, we can ensure you that everything possible is being done to welcome you warmly at these events and to provide a spectacular programme. The Congress will focus on the immense wave of innovation that continues to sweep through the global newspaper industry, bringing success to companies that are seizing the new opportunities and embracing change. The Congress will update you on these and other key developments in the industry, with the latest data and information on global newspaper trends, examining new publications, new advertising and circulation strategies, new digital product development, and new business practices. The Editors Forum will focus on what newspapers can do to adapt to the changing habits of the "free generation" - readers who are accustomed to getting their news from free newspapers and free internet sites. The conference will look at such topics as embracing citizen journalism, offering broadband services, developing weekend editions and supplements, protecting newspaper credibility, and much more. Alongside these events, Info Services Expo 2006 will showcase the new services and technologies which are shaping the newspaper of the future. The Expo offers newspaper executives a chance to learn about the latest products and services from suppliers to the industry.
Participants will also, of course, experience Russian culture, cuisine and both the traditional and modern aspects of the nation. Attractive social events, as well as post-Congress and accompanying persons tours, are being planned. More than 1,500 publishers, chief editors, managing directors, CEOs and other senior newspaper executives from 90 countries are expected at the events, the global meetings of the world's press.
