World Association of Newspapers World Editors Forum

After Moscow, It's Cape Town 2009 and Goteborg 2009

The annual meetings of the world's press will be held in Cape Town, South Africa in 2009 and in Goteborg, Sweden in 2009.

The Newspaper Association of South Africa (NASA) will host the 60th World Newspaper Congress, 14th World Editors Forum and Info Services Expo 2009, which will be held in one of the world' s most beautiful cities from 3 to 6 June 2009. It is the first time the global meetings of the world's press will be held in Africa.

In addition to cutting-edge business sessions, the South African events will offer participants an opportunity to explore all southern Africa has to offer.

"I am confident that the conference will enrich your life through the informative and stimulating programme that will cover a wide variety of issues and that the pre- and post-conference tours will give participants an opportunity to explore our beautiful country and the diverse cultures of our rainbow nation," said Connie Molusi, President of NASA. .

Two great oceans meet off the coast of Cape Town, where warm weather lasts most of the year and where big game roams just beyond the city lights. With its variety of cultures, scenic splendour, wildlife, renowned hospitality and investment opportunities, South Africa offers many attractions to editors, publishers, and anyone interested in news.

The conference will be held in the Cape Town International Convention Centre, which is surrounded by a wide range of accommodation from luxury hotels to quality guest houses.

Pre- and post conference tours will take participants through some of the most magnificent scenery in South Africa -- to a private game lodge, to safari in Kruger National Park, or to enjoy the historical and cultural diversity of the Cape itself.

Accompanying persons will also have a full schedule of events -- tours of Robben Island, Table Mountain, Cape Point, wineries and much more.

Evolving conference information can be found at http://www.capetown2009.co.za
And after Cape Town, the south-western Swedish city of Göteborg will host the 2009 events, following a decision of the WAN Board made in Moscow.

The meetings in Sweden will be hosted by the Swedish Newspaper Publishers Association, which represents Sweden's daily newspapers and other media companies.
